Our commitment to making Jayobe accessible to everyone.
1. Introduction and Commitment
JAYOBE, Inc. ("JAYOBE," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to making the JAYOBE platform located at jayobe.io (the "Platform") usable by the broadest possible audience, including people with disabilities. We believe that a job-discovery platform should be genuinely accessible to every Job Seeker and every Employer, regardless of how they interact with the web — whether by mouse, keyboard, touch, screen reader, magnifier, voice control, or any other assistive technology.
This Accessibility Statement describes JAYOBE's accessibility posture, the standards we target, the accessibility features currently implemented, known limitations we are actively working to address, the assistive technologies we test against, and how you can contact us to report an accessibility issue or request an accommodation. This Accessibility Statement is a public notice of JAYOBE's accessibility commitments, is referenced in Section 20.4 of the Terms of Service (located at jayobe.io/terms), and is not a contract, as further described in Section 7 below.
Note
Our target accessibility standard is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and available at www.w3.org/TR/WCAG21/. WCAG 2.1 Level AA is the industry baseline for U.S. consumer-facing digital services and is the standard referenced by U.S. Department of Justice guidance under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (42 U.S.C. § 12181 et seq.).
2. Current Conformance Status
Target Conformance
WCAG 2.1 Level AA.
Current State
Based on JAYOBE's internal self-assessment conducted prior to launch, the Platform has been designed with WCAG 2.1 Level AA success criteria in mind, and JAYOBE is actively working toward full conformance with those criteria on the Platform's critical user paths.
JAYOBE has not yet obtained a formal third-party conformance audit as of the Effective Date of this Statement and does not represent or claim that the Platform is in full or substantial conformance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA, with the Americans with Disabilities Act, or with any other accessibility standard or law, pending the scheduled post-launch audit described below.
Note
Scheduled audit: An initial comprehensive WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance audit of the Platform is scheduled to be completed within sixty (60) days following launch. The audit will include automated testing (using tools such as axe, Lighthouse, and WAVE) together with manual testing, including keyboard-only navigation testing, screen reader testing, color contrast verification, and browser zoom testing at up to 200%. The targeted outcome of the audit is zero Level A failures and zero Level AA failures on the critical user paths of the Platform. Findings from the audit will be prioritized and addressed in subsequent updates to the Platform, and this Statement will be revised accordingly.
WCAG 2.2: The W3C published WCAG 2.2 in October 2023, adding additional success criteria on top of WCAG 2.1. JAYOBE is monitoring the maturation of WCAG 2.2 as a legal and industry baseline and intends to assess and address the additional WCAG 2.2 criteria in the months following launch, as further described in Section 8 (Ongoing Monitoring).
3. Accessibility Features Implemented
The Platform has been built with the following accessibility features, which reflect current implementation and which will be verified and strengthened through the 60-day post-launch audit described in Section 2:
Semantic HTML structure. Pages use a properly nested heading hierarchy (h1 through h3 where applicable) and semantic landmark elements so that assistive technologies can navigate page structure reliably.
Keyboard navigation. All interactive elements of the Platform — including navigation controls, map view controls, filter controls, form fields, buttons, and links — are reachable and operable using a keyboard alone, without requiring a pointing device.
Visible focus indicators. All focusable elements display a clearly visible focus indicator when navigated to via keyboard, consistent with WCAG 2.1 Success Criterion 2.4.7 (Focus Visible).
Skip link to the accessible list view. Because JAYOBE is a map-first discovery platform, a prominent skip link allows keyboard and screen reader Users to bypass the map interface and access an equivalent accessible list view of available Listings. The list view is a full-fidelity alternative to the map for Users for whom a map interface is not the most effective mode of discovery.
Accessible list view of Listings. Every Listing available on the map is also available through the list view, with all material Listing information (title, Employer name, location, compensation where disclosed, and Listing detail link) presented in a structured, accessible format.
Generous touch target sizing. Primary form inputs, buttons, and other interactive controls are designed with generous touch target sizing to support Users with reduced dexterity and Users on mobile devices.
ARIA landmarks and roles. Page regions (navigation, main content, search, footer) are identified with appropriate ARIA landmarks, and interactive components use appropriate ARIA roles, states, and properties where native HTML semantics are insufficient.
Alt text on meaningful images. Images that convey information have descriptive alternative text; images that are purely decorative are marked as such so that assistive technologies do not announce them.
Color contrast. Text and interactive element contrast is designed to meet WCAG 2.1 AA thresholds (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text and graphical objects). Contrast is verified as part of our pre-launch review and will be re-verified during the 60-day audit.
Browser zoom support. The Platform is designed to remain functional and readable when the User zooms the browser up to 200%, without requiring horizontal scrolling on the primary content flow.
Reduced motion support. Non-essential motion and animation on the Platform respect the User's prefers-reduced-motion operating system and browser setting. Users who have reduced-motion enabled will see reduced or eliminated decorative animation.
Accessible forms. All form fields are programmatically associated with visible labels, required fields are identified both visually and programmatically, and validation errors are announced to assistive technologies and presented with helpful guidance near the field that caused the error.
Screen reader compatibility. The Platform has been tested for compatibility with common screen readers, including NVDA on Windows, JAWS on Windows, and VoiceOver on iOS and macOS.
4. Known Accessibility Limitations
Note
JAYOBE believes transparency about current limitations is more useful to Users with disabilities than an inaccurate claim of full conformance. The following known limitations exist as of the Effective Date of this Statement. Each of these limitations is being actively addressed through ongoing development and through the scheduled 60-day audit described in Section 2.
Map-based interactive content
Map-first interfaces inherently present challenges for screen reader Users and for Users who navigate exclusively by keyboard. JAYOBE has implemented a skip link and a full-fidelity accessible list view of Listings as the primary accessible alternative to the map, and the list view is supported as a first-class discovery path on the Platform — not a secondary or degraded experience. We acknowledge that some interactive map features (pan, zoom, pin selection) may be less accessible than their list-view counterparts, and we encourage Users for whom the map is not a suitable interface to use the list view as their primary mode of Listing discovery.
Third-party embedded services
Certain portions of the Platform rely on third-party services, including Mapbox (for map rendering) and Stripe (for payment processing on Employer accounts). These third-party services inherit the accessibility posture of their respective vendors. JAYOBE monitors vendor accessibility statements and raises issues with vendors where we identify them, but we cannot directly control the accessibility of third-party rendered content. Users who encounter accessibility issues within a third-party embedded service may still contact JAYOBE using the channels in Section 6, and JAYOBE will assist where possible and escalate to the vendor where appropriate.
Residual issues pending audit
Because the formal 60-day post-launch audit has not been completed as of the Effective Date of this Statement, there may be additional accessibility issues that have not yet been identified. JAYOBE commits to addressing audit findings in subsequent updates and to revising this Statement to reflect the audit's conclusions and remediation progress.
User-generated content
Portions of the Platform display Content submitted by Employers (such as Listing descriptions) and by Job Seekers (such as profile information and application materials). The accessibility of User-generated Content — for example, whether an Employer has included useful structure in a Listing description, or whether a Job Seeker's uploaded resume PDF is itself accessible — is dependent on the User who submitted that Content. JAYOBE provides accessible input fields and surrounding framing, encourages Users to produce clear and well-structured Content, and does not guarantee the accessibility of the underlying Content submitted by Users. JAYOBE reviews reports of inaccessible User-generated Content submitted through the channels in Section 6 and will work with the submitting User to improve accessibility where reasonably possible.
The presence of any limitation listed above is not an acceptable end state. JAYOBE's position is that each of these limitations is an item to be remediated, reduced, or eliminated over time, and this Statement will be updated as remediation progresses.
5. Compatible Assistive Technologies
The Platform is designed to work with the following assistive technologies. The list below reflects the technologies against which JAYOBE has tested or which the Platform is designed to support. It is not exhaustive, and Users who rely on other assistive technologies may also be able to use the Platform successfully.
Screen Readers
NVDA (Windows)
Current stable version, used with Firefox and Chrome.
JAWS (Windows)
Current stable version, used with Chrome and Edge.
VoiceOver (iOS)
Current stable version of iOS, used with Safari.
VoiceOver (macOS)
Current stable version of macOS, used with Safari.
Additional Compatibility
Keyboard-Only Navigation
Keyboard-only navigation on desktop browsers, using Tab, Shift+Tab, Enter, Space, and arrow keys as appropriate.
Browser Zoom (up to 200%)
Browser zoom at levels up to 200% on the most recent two versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.
Reduced Motion Preferences
Reduced motion preferences set at the operating system level (macOS, iOS, Windows) or at the browser level. The Platform respects the prefers-reduced-motion media query to suppress non-essential motion for Users who have enabled this preference.
High Contrast & Increased Text Size
High contrast mode and increased-text-size preferences set at the operating system or browser level. Platform layouts are designed to tolerate these preferences without loss of functionality.
If you use an assistive technology that is not listed above and encounter an accessibility issue on the Platform, please report it using the channels described in Section 6. Your feedback helps JAYOBE expand the scope of supported assistive technologies over time.
6. Feedback and Accessibility Support
JAYOBE welcomes feedback on the accessibility of the Platform. If you encounter an accessibility barrier, have a suggestion for improvement, or need assistance accessing any feature of the Platform, please contact us through any of the following channels:
Response targets. JAYOBE aims to acknowledge accessibility feedback promptly — typically within a few business days — and to provide a substantive response as soon as reasonably practicable thereafter. Where remediation requires additional investigation or development time, JAYOBE will communicate expected timing in its acknowledgment. These are operational aims, not contractual commitments.
Alternative accommodations. If you are unable to access information or complete an action on the Platform due to an accessibility barrier, JAYOBE will work with you to provide the information or complete the action through an alternative channel where reasonable to do so. Requests for alternative accommodations may be made through the accessibility email above.
Note
Helpful information to include in your report, where you are able to do so: the page or feature where you encountered the issue (or its URL); a description of the barrier; the assistive technology you were using (if any), including its name and version; and the browser and operating system you were using. JAYOBE will do its best with whatever level of detail you are comfortable providing, including a report that simply describes the problem in plain language.
7. No Warranty; Not a Contract
This Section 7 describes the legal character of this Accessibility Statement. The substantive description of JAYOBE's current conformance posture with respect to WCAG 2.1 Level AA — including the 60-day post-launch formal audit commitment and the representation that some aspects of the Platform may not yet fully conform to all applicable Level AA success criteria — appears in Section 2 above. Known limitations are described in Section 4 above. This Section 7 does not itself make any conformance representation; readers seeking JAYOBE's conformance posture should refer to Section 2.
Important
This Statement is a good-faith representation of JAYOBE's current accessibility posture. It is not a warranty of full conformance with WCAG 2.1, WCAG 2.2, the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, or any other accessibility standard or law. Legal conformance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and analogous state laws is a legal determination, not a technical-standard determination, and JAYOBE does not purport to make that legal determination in this Statement.
Nothing in this Statement creates a contract, warranty, or third-party-beneficiary right enforceable by any User or other person against JAYOBE, and this Statement is not intended to, and does not, expand JAYOBE's obligations beyond those imposed by applicable law. JAYOBE's contractual obligations with respect to the Platform are governed by the Terms of Service, and in the event of any conflict between this Statement and the Terms of Service, the Terms of Service govern.
8. Ongoing Monitoring
Accessibility is an ongoing commitment rather than a one-time project. JAYOBE maintains the following monitoring and improvement practices:
Annual accessibility review
JAYOBE will conduct a comprehensive accessibility review of the Platform at least once per calendar year, beginning with the 60-day post-launch audit described in Section 2 and continuing annually thereafter.
WCAG 2.2 and future standards
JAYOBE will assess the Platform against the additional WCAG 2.2 Level AA success criteria following the initial launch audit, and will incorporate WCAG 2.2 conformance as that standard matures into the U.S. legal and industry baseline. Future standards, including WCAG 3.0 when it moves from draft to recommended, will be monitored and adopted as appropriate.
Accessibility-by-design for new features
New features of the Platform are designed with accessibility in mind from inception, rather than retrofitted for accessibility after launch. Accessibility considerations are part of JAYOBE's feature design and engineering process.
Pre-production accessibility testing
Accessibility testing (including automated tooling on every build and targeted manual testing for significant changes) is incorporated into JAYOBE's pre-production quality assurance cycles.
Responsiveness to User reports. User reports received through the channels in Section 6 are tracked and prioritized alongside audit findings, and material accessibility issues identified through User reports are addressed with the same rigor as issues identified through formal audit.
9. Changes to This Statement
JAYOBE may modify this Statement at any time. The "Last Updated" and "Effective Date" shown at the top of this Statement will be revised to reflect the date of the most recent modification.
Non-material changes
Non-material changes — including typographical corrections, clarifications, formatting changes, updates to audit status as remediation progresses, additions to the list of compatible assistive technologies tested, and similar revisions that do not reduce JAYOBE's accessibility commitment — take effect upon posting of the updated Statement to the Platform with the Last Updated date revised accordingly.
Material changes
Material changes — including a reduction in JAYOBE's target conformance standard, a narrowing of the scope of the Platform covered by this Statement, or changes that materially reduce User rights or commitments under this Statement — take effect upon posting of the updated Statement to the Platform with the Last Updated date revised accordingly.
